Chan Neung Orchard’s dried Marian plum is made from 100% mayongchid (Thai Marian plum, also called plum mango) with no added sugar and no preservatives; the sweetness you taste is the fruit’s own natural sugar. It is sold in 50 g pouches, carries Thai FDA (อย.) number 74-2-04264-6-0101 and is registered as an OTOP product from Nakhon Nayok. Because fresh Marian plum is only in season from late January to March, the dried fruit is how we offer it all year.
What is in dried Marian plum?
There is one ingredient: Thoonklao Marian plum, the variety we grow at our family orchard in Ban Na district, Nakhon Nayok. Nothing else goes in. There is no added sugar, no syrup coating and no preservatives.
“No added sugar” is not the same as “sugar-free”. Ripe mayongchid is naturally sweet, and that natural fruit sugar is still in the dried fruit. We list it clearly in the nutrition table below so you know exactly what is in each serving.
Why did a fruit orchard start making dried Marian plum?
Fresh Marian plum has a short life. The season lasts only a couple of months, and even in the fridge the fruit keeps for about a week. When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted fruit sales, ripe fruit was ready on our trees with far fewer buyers than usual.
Rather than lose the harvest, we turned part of it into a dried product. What began as a way to save the crop became the orchard’s year-round product, and it lets people outside the January to March season taste Nakhon Nayok mayongchid.

How much sugar does dried Marian plum contain?
A 25 g serving contains 20 g of sugar, and all of it comes from the fruit. Drying removes most of the water from fresh mayongchid, so the sugar that was spread through a juicy fruit ends up concentrated in a smaller, chewier piece.
If you keep track of sugar, count dried Marian plum the way you would any dried fruit. The serving size on the pack is 25 g, which is half a pouch.
What does dried Marian plum taste like?
The texture is soft and chewy rather than hard or crunchy. The flavour follows the fresh fruit, sweet first with a light sour finish, only more concentrated, and each piece carries a gentle aroma of fresh mayongchid.
How do you eat dried Marian plum?
- As a snack: straight from the pouch, then reseal the zip pouch between servings.
- On yogurt: chopped over yogurt or a breakfast bowl for a sweet-sour contrast.
- In drinks: as a topping for iced tea, smoothies or soda water.
- In baking: chopped into muffins, cakes or cookies in place of other dried fruit.
- As a gift: a light, easy-to-pack souvenir from Nakhon Nayok for friends and family at home.
Is it registered with the Thai FDA and OTOP?
